8-4-17 We’re Back!
No, I didn’t fall off the face if the earth and I will be back to our regular weekly newsletter schedule. We were having some serious technical issues on the website that necessitated moving and changing servers and hosts. Most, if not all, should be back to normal now. In the middle of all this I was also downsizing and moving, also all done for now. I appreciate your patience as we worked this out, now back to the cannabis!
The California Democratic Party has passed a resolution condemning the use of an IRS code section that disallows marijuana dispensaries from deducting most of their business expenses from their federal income taxes. As a consequence marijuana dispensing businesses are required to pay taxes on almost every dollar taken in. This results in usurious and unsustainable taxation rates that would drive any business into bankruptcy.
Al Capone was brought down for not reporting income from the sale of alcohol during prohibition and not for the actual sale of alcohol. In a similar manner in 1984, at the height of the Reagan Administration’s escalation of the War on Drugs, the United State Congress directed the IRS to disallow businesses that illegally distribute schedule 1 drugs from deducting business expenses from their federal taxes.
Marijuana Recipes: Chocolate Raspberry Trifles
I am loving these little self contained marijuana recipes for desserts in a jar! My Lemon Berry Trifles were the first of these I made and they were so good, I decided to try a chocolate version. These are so easy to make, but always get wows anytime you serve them!
Not only are these delicious, you can make them ahead of time, and they are easy to store and transport as each one is made and served in it’s own individual jar. I used half pint Mason jelly jars to make 10 individual servings. The jars are always handy to have around as they provide a better place to store your marijuana stash than the typical plastic baggie or prescription bottle.
A single cake mix makes 15 servings. While the trifles will keep in their covered jars for several days in the fridge, this might still be too many serving for some folks. If so, wrap half the cake well and freeze for later use. When you want this dessert again, thaw, and continue. Of course you would only use half the raspberries and cream listed here each time.

See You Next Week!
