12-20-16 Happy Tuesday Everyone!
Happy news for a prisoner today, and a terrific winter salad recipe!
Monday President Obama commuted the sentence of Paul Free, who has served over 22 years of a Life Without Parole sentence for a nonviolent marijuana conspiracy offense, to 30 years.
The 66-year old Coronado, California native phoned Marijuana Lifer Project founder and director Cheri Sicard on Monday with the news.
While this was not quite the news we all hoped for, Free is nonetheless positive and grateful and says that 30 years is far better than LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE. With good behavior and time off for a drug rehabilitation program (RDAP) he could, in theory, go to a halfway house in as little as a year.
Today’s Recipe: Enlightened Waldorf Salad
I call this my “Enlightened” Waldorf Salad not only because it is progressive enough to contain cannabis, but also because I cut the Waldorf Salad’s traditional high fat content by mixing in some plain yogurt for some of the mayonnaise in this classic retro salad.
