Pot Brownies, Weed Brownies, Magic Brownies, Ganja Brownies, no matter what you call them, Marijuana Brownies are and seem to have always been, the snack of choice for cannabis edibles fans. So much so that some people seem to think that is the only food you can make from marijuana!
So it suddenly dawned on me that even though I have hundreds of marijuana recipes on this site and in my books, I had very few pot brownie recipes.
Perhaps that is because I try to teach people that there are soooooooo many other foods you can medicate besides brownies.
But regardless of how many other great recipes there are, pot brownies, marijuana brownies, and weed brownies, are some of the most frequently searched for terms when it comes to marijuana edibles. So give the people what they want I say!
I have included some great recipes for marijuana brownies on this page. However, know that it is easy to medicate most any brownie recipe and turn them into to pot brownies.
That's right, you can take your Grandma's favorite recipe for brownies and turn them into a cannabis brownies. Read on!
Why Are Pot Brownies So Popular?
It makes sense that weed brownies are so popular. What's not to like?
- They taste great.
- They are easy to make.
- You only need a single pot (no pun intended) or bowl. Likewise there is little mess to clean up afterwards.
- They are easy to pick up and eat.
- They pack well for edibles on the go.
- They are freezer friendly -- handy for both long term storage and always have edibles at the ready.

Adding Cannabis to Brownies
How to Use Cannabutter to Make Brownies
Most brownie recipes contain significant quantities of butter (hey, I never said this was health food). Likewise, it's easy to swap out the butter in your favorite brownie recipe for marijuana butter. Easy peasey.
This is how you can take modify your Mom's brownie recipe into a cannabis recipe. In fact brownies are one of the easiest ways to start experimenting with adapting your own recipes for cannabis cooking (a topic I cover more thoroughly in my comprehensive online Cannabis Cooking Course).
How to Use Canna Oil to Make Brownies
Sometimes brownie recipes will use marijuana oil. In fact, some of the recipes below use infused coconut oil. Often brownie mixes will call for oil in the recipe as well.
Most any infused oil will work when making brownies. Yes, even olive oil.
Coconut oil is my favorite because it makes an ultra moist fudgy brownie. I also like its subtle flavor. Coconut oil has added health benefits. It also has the added benefit of having longest shelf life of commonly used oils.
Using Cannabis Concentrates to Make Brownies
Of course you can always use decarboxylized rosin, hash oil, kief or hash to medicate marijuana brownie recipes too. When you use a concentrate you don't even need to take the time of making an infusion.
Adding cannabis concentrates or tinctures into recipes for pot brownies is easy. All you need to do is:
- Gently heat the butter or oil your brownies recipe calls for. A few seconds in the microwave usually does the trick. We are looking for oil or melted butter that is warm but not hot.
- Stir the concentrate into the warm oil or melted butter until it is dissolved.
- Add the concentrated infused oil or melted butter to your recipe according to the recipe instructions.
Dosages for Pot Brownies
No matter which way you choose to medicate your pot brownies, the challenge comes with dosing.
Some recipes use so much butter or oil, you might find yourself creating a super potent brownie if you substituted ALL of it for infused cannabutter or canna oil.
No problem! Take my Free online Marijuana Edibles Dosing Course to learn how to custom dose your marijuana brownie recipes. It only takes about 10 minutes to take the course, but you'll be rewarded with more accurate and consistent results whenever you make marijuana brownies, or any time you cook any recipe with cannabis!

How to Freeze Pot Brownies!
Can you freeze pot brownies? Yes!!!
One of the great things about marijuana brownies is the fact that they freeze well!
You will probably not want to, nor should you, chow down on an entire batch of pot brownies at once. Freezing can significantly help with portion control. It also lets you have delicious brownie edibles on hand any time you want them.
Freezing weed brownies:
- Assemble and bake the brownies as directed in your recipe
- Allow to cool completely
- Cut into individual portions.
- Wrap each portion, label well including cannabis dosage, and freeze.
Later you can remove just what you need from the freezer at any given time. Simply bring to room temperature, and enjoy.
If you are impatient, you don’t even need to wait. My friends are known to eat brownies straight from the freezer!
